What is Photonics and why is it so important for industry?
Photonics uses light for innovation. It’s key for efficient, smart LED lighting.

Photonics is often described as the science of light. Can you share how your work in photonics helps solve real-world problems, and what personally fascinates you most about working with light?
We improve LED drivers to save energy, enable smart control (dimming/color), and cut costs. Better drivers mean better lighting for homes, offices, and cities.

What fascinates you personally about Photonics—and how is it changing industrial applications?
Light enables efficient, intelligent systems. Improving LED drivers helps turn basic light into smart, adaptive solutions that save energy and enhance spaces.

What is your personal motto or slogan?
Hard work beats talent

What originally brought you to Vorarlberg—and what made you decide to work at V-Research?
Doing research has always been fascinating to me, and working at V-Research is even more rewarding because the projects are closely connected to my field of study.

What differences or similarities do you see between the work culture in your home country and at V-Research?
Both in Iran and here, the work atmosphere is friendly and flexible. The main difference is overtime – in Iran it’s common, but here they value work-life balance and discourage extra hours.

What do you particularly appreciate about Vorarlberg—both professionally and personally?
Personally, I truly appreciate the beautiful nature of Vorarlberg. Professionally, what I find most attractive is that thanks to the strong industry here, it feels much easier to find a job closely related to your studies after graduation.

Is there a dish or beverage from your home country that you particularly miss—or perhaps even cook or prepare here in Vorarlberg?
Yes, I was really craving Kebab Koobideh and Ghormeh Sabzi, so I went to an Iranian restaurant in Munich to ease my longing.😊

Have you discovered a favourite dish, beverage or culinary highlight in Vorarlberg that surprised you?
I was delighted by Vorarlberg’s Apfelstrudel and the warm Glühwein at the Christmas markets – it’s a uniquely cozy and delicious experience!

If you were to invite your team to a meal from your home country, what would you serve?
I would probably cook Chekdermeh, a traditional Turkmen dish from my home country.

What is your favourite spice?
My favorite spices are saffron, cardamom, cinnamon, and dried rose petals. They’re common in Iranian food and drinks.

What is your favourite drink or cocktail?
Tea — especially if it’s saffron tea or sour cherry tea.

What is your favourite fruit or vegetable?
My favorite fruit would probably be fresh fig.
